As the New Year continues and the weather improves we can start to think about getting out of the house a bit more and enjoying the wonders of our city of Edinburgh. Each month on the first Saturday here in Edinburgh’s beautiful Morningside, the Colmcille Centre is the venue for the Morningside Maker’s Market. Free to enter and with gentle music in the air the market is an opportunity to find a wide range of artisan gifts from all over Scotland. Often selling their own wares, the market brings together some of the most skilled artists, crafters and designers from across the country

Curry Crafter

The market runs from 11am to 4pm so after spending time strolling around and finding some unique items and gifts, we have one further craftsman we recommend you take the time to visit. Here at the Clay Oven Indian Restaurant and Takeaway our chef is applying his finely honed skills to creating great food. To complete your day of culture – pop in for anything from a light curried lunch to a full banquet.

For those of you who like to prepare for Christmas well in advance – this post is to remind you of the upcoming Morningside Maker’s Market. Held on the first Saturday of every month at the Columcille Centre – within walking distance of our Indian Restaurant this is a perfect opportunity to find some unique gifts and bits and bobs for around the house.

Not a Curry Maker’s Market

We won’t be there exhibiting our fantastic range of authentic curries cooked from the finest local ingredients – but there will be lots of local artists showing their wares – so get yourself along and pick up something that little bit different. And just maybe pop along before for an Indian Lunch or after for an Indian Dinner!

The first Saturday of every month – a short walk away from us the Morningside Makers Market takes place.

The market features 30 different artists from all over Scotland selling a range of hand made products ranging from jewellery to clothes and bags. This is a great opportunity to get some beautiful items – and to speak to the person who made them face to face.

The next market is on the 3rd of April – why not pop along to have a look – and then stroll along to see us afterwards for some fantastic Indian cuisine handmade with true love and skill.
