Our film of the month for February is the fantastic Black Swan – yes, we know it’s been out a while but we had to recommend The King’s Speech last month! This is the type of film the atmospheric Dominion does better than any type of cinema. An intense film focusing around a production of Swan Lake and with a director with a reputation for obscurity – this is one that begs to be digested over a meal with your fellow movie goers!

Conversational Curry

Following a film like this we’d recommend starting any meal with a few Popadums, you can use big shards to help get your point across. After that – a curry with some spice to reflect the film and some fresh boiled basmati rice to let you mould your own white swan on your plate! Finally – if you haven’t managed to get your thoughts on the film across – order two naans and become a swan yourself.

Colin Firth stars in our film of the month for January – the already greatly acclaimed “The King’s Speech”. Set in the 1930s where better to see this film than in the historically grand surroundings of the nearby Dominion Cinema. This is one to make you feel good – and then how about relaxing afterwards with the king of foods – a great curry.

Celebrate the King (Prawn)

To celebrate this great movie – we recommend you enjoy our Tandoori Raj Chingree. Chingree means king prawn – and whilst these ones aren’t having their stutters cured they are being marinated in a carefully spiced lemon and yoghurt sauce before being grilled to add a fantastic charcoal taste. Order these with some great Indian flatbreads and get eating – delicious.

This month’s movie of choice is the follow up to the original sci fi classic Tron – imaginatively named Tron Legacy and is out on Friday 17th December.

Way back in 1982, Disney released Tron which, with it’s distinctive looks became a firm favourite.  After 28 years, Tron Legacy returns to the exciting world of bright lines on a dark screen and brings the high tech world to a whole new generation.

The perfect evening seeing this film should also celebrate something that was growing massively in popularity in the 1980s – the UK’s love for great Indian food.  From a fantastic showing in the comfort of the beautiful Dominion cinema, pop across the road and enjoy a great meal with us!  We’re only a short walk away – so you’ll barely need to get your hat and scarf on!

This month’s recommended film for your curry and a movie night is Skyline. Eerily reminiscent of the 1996 smash Independence Day, this is another extraterrestrial movie that means you can leave the brain at home and just enjoy what’s on the screen in front of you.

Curry out of this world

As Edinburgh starts to get colder and colder, a great evening out is surely a good movie in the cities best cinema before an incredible curry in its best Indian restaurant. So get yourselves along to the movie before dissecting the plot (if there is one) over the universally acclaimed great food at the Clay Oven.

Our film of the month is based on the popular Edinburgh story of Burke and Hare. Based on a true story of grave robbing, this film stars Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis as well as Isla Fisher (most famously Shannon Reid from Home and Away a few years ago or more recently married to Sacha Baron Cohen as they combine to give this story a light hearted twist.

A Curried History

Historically, one of the origins of currying of food was to preserve meat ahead of long journeys. Given plans to enjoy a light hearted film about grave robbing, how about coupling the evening up to perfection and enjoying the most beautiful marinated meats and dishes that we can serve in our Morningside based Indian Restaurant and takeaway? After all – this is hardly a film you are going to be taking your mother along to!

Our movie of the month is really the movie of next month – as it’s not out until the 1st of October! We’re getting excited about it now – the reason being that if you’re old enough to remember it first time round you’ll probably need to start planning babysitters. If you didn’t catch it first time around – trust us – it’s worth doing. The film we’re talking about is the time travel classic “Back to the Future” – Michael J Fox’s finest moment and a film that is impossible not to enjoy.

So how about a night out with a classic film from 1985 and then perfect renditions of dishes that became popular in the UK in the 70s here at the Clay Oven Indian Restaurant? Given that summer is definitely gone – the walk from here to the Dominion is short enough that you should escape the rain!

There are some films where the cast list just piques your interest – whether for good reasons – or bad! The Expendables has to be just that sort of film – a cast list of ‘greats’ from the 90s and a few names from more recent times. Whether that appeals or not – it’s getting good reviews and has to be a good bet for a mindless night out with a group of friends at our local Dominion cinema.

Indian Meat Treats

So – after an evening of questionable culture – pop along to see us . There is only one dish that we can recommend – and that is the pure meat delight of our Tandoori Mixed Grill!

Along with multiplexes all across the country – Edinburgh’s best cinema the Dominion will be showing Toy Story 3 from July 23rd.  Just a 2 minute walk from the best Indian Restaurant in the city is an opportunity to see the third in the Pixar series of what are undoubtedly the best animated films about.

Sunday Matinee Mela

Whilst we’re sure lots of our customers will go and see it with their friends – we reckon that the best way to enjoy a proper family film like this is by going to a matinee – followed by a nice meal out to complete the day.  While the kids are off but you have to be back to work on Monday – go on a Sunday – and then come and enjoy eating as much as you can at our all day curry buffet.
